In reality and fantasy, quarterbacks can make or break a team.
Introducing the top ten
There are several strategies when it comes to forming your roster. But even if you’ll be selecting receivers and/or running backs before choosing your QB, you should probably start thinking about the pivotal position.
And Bleacher Report recently released its ranked list of quarterbacks with the Bills’ Josh Allen coming out on top. That might not be entirely surprising based on the strong numbers (like 15 rushing touchdowns) he posted up last season.
Nevertheless, that doesn’t mean he’ll be the right shot-caller for your team. Filling out the top five are Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts, Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson, Super Bowl LVII MVP Patrick Mahomes of Kansas City, and Indiana’s Anthony Richardson.
Here’s how the bottom half of the top ten shapes up:
- Houston’s CJ Stroud
- Cincinnati's Joe Burrow
- Arizona’s Kyler Murray
- Dallas’ Dak Prescott
- Miami’s Tua Tagovailoa
Biggest bang for your buck
Part of the challenge involved in being a successful fantasy football manager comes with choosing not just the best QB, but the one who offers the most value to the team. And for that reason, Josh Allen probably won’t be your best bet.
Not only will he likely be snatched up quickly during the draft, but the cost of adding him to the roster would probably result in a weaker team supporting him. Plus, his 2023-24 stats were something of an anomaly he isn’t likely to match or exceed in the upcoming season.
All things considered, Anthony Richardson — who was impressive during his injury-plagued rookie season — might be a better value proposition.
